Swashbucklers of all ages will converge on the banks of the Tar River, a paradise located in Uptown Greenville, for the 8th annual PirateFest on April 10 and 11, 2015.

PirateFest is a large outdoor cultural celebration offering fun, food, art, and entertainment for everybody with 35,000 plus attendees annually.

PirateFest begins Friday, April 10 with a live music concert, the Buccaneer Bash from 5 to 8 pm. On Saturday, April 11, PirateFest begins at 10 a.m. and takes place along Evans from 5th to 1st Street and on the Town Common in the Uptown district.

The PirateFest Committee is seeking art and food vendors to participate in PirateFest on April 11. The Art and Treasure Isle of PirateFest will feature a juried arts festival with $2,000 in prizes for best of categories and food from around the world. This area will feature beautiful one-of-a-kind art available from more than 60 exhibiting artists including mediums of all types -- pottery, jewelry, wood, painting, and more. Artists who create both 2-D and 3-D pieces are encouraged to apply and participate.

"PirateFest offers regional artists a unique opportunity to showcase their art in Greenville," said Holly Garriott, Pitt County Arts Council Director, "The quality of art in the past has been amazing and we expect that this year's addition of cash prizes from the jury will provide even more incentive to the artists."

PirateFest not only features fine arts and crafts for sale, it also offers two live music stages, a "grog garden," pirate entertainers, a Parade of Pirates, a Children's Pirate Costume Contest, and a PirateEncampment offering crafts, an inflatable pirate ship for children, and other activities. Also, dont miss the Fossil Dig, free kayak rides, as well as a variety of food and entertainment from around the world at the International Ports O' Call.

"We invite everyone to get in touch with their inner pirate at this popular annual event," said Bianca Shoneman, Uptown Greenville Director. "PirateFest offers top-notch entertainment and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend at one of the liveliest celebrations in the region!"

Artists, nonprofits, and food vendors are all invite to apply to participate. Additionally, festival attendees are invited to dress-up and walk in the Parade of Pirates. A Childrens Costume Contest will follow the Parade at the Pirate Encampment.

Organized by Uptown Greenville and Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge, along with assistance from The City of Greenville, Greenville Convention and Visitor's Bureau and East Carolina University's Volunteer Service-Learning Center, PirateFest will showcase the best of region, from artists, to restaurants, to unique recreational activities.
