The Montford Music and Arts Festival is the largest one day music and arts festival in Western North Carolina and 2013 was its 10th year of continuous operation.
The festival has grown to encompass two tree lined streets in the historic Montford community. Most of the homes in Montford were built between 1890 and 1920, and include a variety of architectural influences reflecting the cosmopolitan character of Asheville during the turn of the 20th century. Victorian, Queen Anne and Arts and Crafts styles are combined with Neoclassical, Colonial Revival and castle-like motifs.
Over 100 vendors of art, crafts, plants, food and childrens activities are located on Montford Avenue and Soco Streets just down from the Asheville Visitors Center. Two stages, one on each street, offer the perfect setting for non-stop entertainment and over 20 bands and musical acts. The festival is an exciting way to experience the warmth and friendly atmosphere of one of Ashevilles most intriguing neighborhoods. A special bike corral is available for our many bikers. Parking is throughout the neighborhood. While it is unlawful in Asheville to have pets on the street during a festival, we offer a Doggy Daycare so you can still enjoy the festival in case you forget to leave your pet at home. The officers do enforce the ordinance.
We invite you to join us for the 11th festival, rain or shine, on Saturday May 17, 2014 beginning at 10:00am and running till 7pm. The festival is free to the public and handicap accessible. Mark your calendar now, for next years Fantastic Montford Music and Arts Festival!
